Dr Giles is an oculoplastic and cataract specialist with an interest in medical retina. Dr Giles gained his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, UK and continued to work there to gain his ophthalmology training until he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (
After completing his core curriculum Dr Giles undertook further advanced training. He completed two one year Fellowships in Sheffield, the first in oculoplastics and the second in medical retina. During his oculoplastic Fellowship he gained extensive experience in the treatment of eyelid malpositions, lacrimal problems (watering eyes), tumour diagnosis, excision and reconstruction techniques and upper lid blepharoplasties. During the medical retina Fellowship, he was heavily involved in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration with Lucentis and diabetic retinopathy with laser.
Dr Giles has been consulting at Vision Eye Institute, Footscray since October 2008 where he has delighted staff and patients alike, and continues to work there to meet the demand he has found for his oculoplastic and other services
