Dr Mark Jacobs
MD, MBBCh, FRANZCO, FRACS, FRCOphth.
Dr Mark Jacobs specialises in cataract surgery. After qualifying as an ophthalmic surgeon at Sydney Eye Hospital in 1989, Dr Jacobs worked in London where he was a fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children and Moorfields Eye Hospital. At present he is a conjoint senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a staff specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
Dr Jacobs has over 20 publications in peer reviewed international ophthalmology journals. He was a reviewer for the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology as well as the Ophthalmic Research Institute of Australia. He is one of a few ophthalmic surgeons in New South Wales to gain the degree of doctorate in medicine (MD- University of New South Wales) for original research of an international standing. At present he is a co-supervisor of a PHD thesis student.
Dr Jacobs has lectured and had papers presented on a variety of ophthalmology topics in Australia and overseas. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (United Kingdom).
