Dr Lee Lenton

Dr Lee Lenton specialises in cataract and refractive surgery.He has special interests in phacoemulsification surgery, intraocular lens implant surgery, kerato refractive surgery, ocular surface disease management, mathematical modelling in ophthalmic surgery and undergraduate and post-graduate teaching.
Dr Lenton graduated Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1975 from University of Queensland. Dr Lenton completed ophthalmic training at the Brisbane Princess Alexandra and Mater hospitals. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1982.
Dr Lenton was appointed Founder, Medical Director and Ophthalmic Surgeon of the Queensland Eye Centre from 1997 until 2000. During this time Dr Lenton was also Chief Refractive Surgeon at Eyelaser Australia, Sydney and Insight Laser Centre, Melbourne. Dr Lenton is currently a visiting clinician and lecturer at Queensland University of Technology, Department of Optometry and Optometry Clinic.
Dr Lenton has published over 27 articles in the Journal of Refractive Surgery, Clinical Experimental Optometry, Journal of Cataract Refractive Surgery and Optometry and Vision Science.
He is known as a pioneer of laser eye surgery, introducing the use of topical anaesthetic and clear corneal suture-less incision for cataract surgery in Australia. Dr Lenton established the North Queensland Day Surgery in 1995 – this was the first free-standing ambulatory day surgery in North Queensland and the first ophthalmic day surgery in Australia to perform ambulatory vitreoretinal surgery. Dr Lenton was one of the first surgeons to perform LASIK in Australia and the first surgeon in Australia to master the technique of bilateral LASIK. Dr Lenton has performed more than 15,000 LASIK procedures since commencing in 1995.
Dr Lenton provides his specialist services at Vision Eye Institute and Vision Laser at River City (Brisbane) and Townsville.
