Dr Jeff Friedrich

Dr Friedrich’s sub-specialty interests at Vision Eye Institute have included cataract surgery and diabetic retinopathy. Since 2006 he has focused his clinical expertise on medical retina, including age-related macular degeneration. He has since attended landmark international retinal meetings, and he has recently returned from a mini-fellowship in medical retina at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA Medical Centre in California.
Dr Friedrich specialised for over 10 years in small incision phaco-emulsification cataract surgery with experience dating back to 1987 when he learned the then innovative procedure from the late Dr Michael Silva, pioneer of the technique in Australasia.
Dr Friedrich is a Visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, and at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital where he was Secretary of the Division of Surgery for some years. From 1987 to 2003 Dr Friedrich was also a Visiting Medical Officer at Concord Repatriation General Hospital where he specialised in medical retina and laser.
Dr Friedrich is an International Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the European Vitreo-Retinal Society. He is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists.
Dr Friedrich provides his specialist services at Vision Eye Institute Chatswood and Cremorne.
